# Can I use Mindstamp videos in iPhone or Android apps?

Topic: [Sharing and embedding](https://mindstamp.com/help/sharing) · Updated: 2026-09-25

## Short answer

Yes. Load the video’s share link, or a page with its embed code, in a web view: WKWebView on iOS and WebView on Android. The interactions and data collection work as they do in a browser, provided the web view allows JavaScript, local storage and inline playback.

## Steps

1. Publish the video and copy its share link or embed code from **Share**.
2. In your app, add a web view and load the share link, or a page on your site that contains the embed code.
3. Set the web view options in the lists below.
4. Test on a real iPhone and a real Android phone. Play the video, use each interaction, and check that the view shows in Reporting.

## iOS: WKWebView

- Set `allowsInlineMediaPlayback` to true on the web view configuration. Without it, iPhones open the video in the system player, which hides every interaction.
- To allow muted autoplay, set `mediaTypesRequiringUserActionForPlayback` to none.
- If the video has voice or video questions, add camera and microphone usage descriptions to the app’s Info.plist.
- Use WKWebView. The older UIWebView and the macOS WebView class are not suitable.

## Android: WebView

- Turn on JavaScript (`javaScriptEnabled`) and DOM storage (`domStorageEnabled`). The player needs both.
- To allow muted autoplay, set `mediaPlaybackRequiresUserGesture` to false.
- Set a WebChromeClient and handle `onShowCustomView` if viewers need fullscreen.
- If the video has voice or video questions, handle `onPermissionRequest` and add camera and microphone permissions to the app manifest.

## Viewer identity inside an app

Mindstamp remembers a viewer in the browser storage of the web view. If the app clears web data, the viewer shows as new. To tie views to your app’s users, add their details to the link as URL parameters or use personalized links. See [pass URL parameters into an embed](https://mindstamp.com/help/pass-url-parameters-into-an-embed) and [viewer identity](https://mindstamp.com/help/viewer-identity-and-anonymous-viewers).

## Links and click actions

Click actions that open a link can try to open a new window. Decide in your app code whether to open those links in the web view or in the system browser. To react to viewer events in your app, see the [embed iframe events guide](https://mindstamp.com/help/mindstamp-embed-iframe-events-guide).
