Interactive video in Trainual

Insert the Mindstamp Basic iframe code into a Trainual step with Insert, then Iframe, and Mindstamp records each answer a learner gives. On Trainual plans that include SCORM uploads, a Mindstamp package also lets Trainual assign the video and track its completion.

Three ways to add it

Embed, Basic iframe only

Insert an iframe in a step

In Mindstamp, publish the video from its Share page.
Under Embed, choose Basic iframe and select Copy embed code. The Responsive and Popout codes contain a script tag, and Trainual will not save them.
In Trainual, open the subject and the step you want to edit.
In the Content editor, select Insert, then Iframe.
Paste the code. If a div wraps the iframe, delete the div.
Select Add iframe.
View the step from a test account and play the video.

SCORM, depends on plan

Upload a SCORM package

Trainual says the SCORM upload feature depends on your plan. It accepts SCORM 1.2 or 2004 ZIP files up to 2 GB and tracks completions.

On the Mindstamp Share page, under Export, select Download SCORM package. This needs a Core plan or higher.
In SCORM Version, choose SCORM 1.2 or a SCORM 2004 edition. Trainual does not name a 2004 edition, so test one package first.
In Completion Checkpoint, choose 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, 95 or 100 percent. The 80 and 85 percent options do not record completion.
Upload the ZIP file in Trainual as a SCORM package. Do not unzip it.
Assign it to a test account, watch past the checkpoint, and check that Trainual shows the completion.

A record of every answer by learner, since Trainual documents completion but not a score.

Known issues

Check these before you publish

Saving failed: The code has a script tag. Trainual rejects any script, so copy the Basic iframe code.
Extra wrapper code: Trainual’s Synthesia guide says to remove a div that wraps the iframe. Paste only the iframe tag.
No SCORM upload option: Trainual ties SCORM uploads to your plan. Check your plan, or use the iframe and read the results in Mindstamp.
SCORM content is locked: Trainual does not let you edit a SCORM upload. Make changes in Mindstamp. The package loads the hosted video, so edits show without a new upload.

Trainual interactive video FAQ

Can I add an interactive video to Trainual?

Yes. In a step, select Insert, then Iframe, and paste the Mindstamp Basic iframe code. The player shows in the step, and learners answer the questions there.

Why does Trainual say saving failed?

Trainual rejects any code that contains a script tag. The Mindstamp Responsive and Popout codes load a script, so they fail. The Basic iframe code has no script and saves. Remove any div around the iframe as well.

Does Trainual support SCORM?

Yes, on plans that include it. Trainual accepts SCORM 1.2 or 2004 ZIP files up to 2 GB, and you can assign them and track completions. Mindstamp SCORM export needs a Core plan or higher. See SCORM export.

Does Trainual record the quiz score from the video?

Trainual documents completion tracking for SCORM, not a score. Mindstamp records the score either way: the percent of questions answered correctly, counting the first answer. Export training records when you need them outside Mindstamp.

Does Trainual have interactive video?

Trainual does not document questions inside a video. It embeds video from hosts such as Loom and Vimeo, and puts tests in the subject, apart from the video. Mindstamp asks questions and branches inside the video.
