How do I make Kaltura videos interactive?
Copy the address of a public Kaltura media page that contains kaltura.com. In Mindstamp, select Kaltura on the New video page, paste the address, and create the video when you see Link works. Then add questions, hotspots, or branching in the editor. Mindstamp streams the file from Kaltura and records each answer.
Which Kaltura and Mindstamp plans do I need?
No Mindstamp plan blocks Kaltura links, and Mindstamp needs no Kaltura API access, partner ID, or entry ID. Basic limits each video to 30 minutes. SCORM export needs Core or higher. Kaltura shows no public prices, and an admin turns on its own video quiz in the Quiz module.
Does Kaltura still count the plays?
Likely not. Kaltura analytics come from play events that a player sends to Kaltura, and Mindstamp does not load the Kaltura player or send anything back. Kaltura still delivers the file from its CDN. Each view, answer, and score for the interactive video is in Mindstamp reports.
Kaltura has video quizzes. Why use Mindstamp?
Kaltura Video Quiz is a full quiz tool. It pauses for each question, reports each user’s answers and scores, and can send grades to an LMS gradebook over LTI. If your learners sign in to Kaltura through your LMS, it may be all you need. Mindstamp fits when one video needs a quiz and hotspots together, when viewers do not sign in, or when answers must go to HubSpot, Zapier, or a webhook. See Mindstamp vs Kaltura.
Can I use a Kaltura video that sits in my LMS course?
Use the kaltura.com media page of the entry, not the course page. A Canvas or Moodle course address does not contain kaltura.com, so Mindstamp refuses it. Then put the Mindstamp video in the course with an embed or a SCORM package. Read how to add interactive video to an LMS.
