Connect with an API key and import

  1. In Synthesia, turn on Video Sharing, as Synthesia’s Mindstamp guide describes.
  2. Create a Synthesia API key and copy it.
  3. In Mindstamp, select New video, then Synthesia under Connected apps.
  4. Paste the key into Synthesia API Key and select Submit. Mindstamp saves one key for the whole organization.
  5. Select the card of the video you want. Mindstamp shows a processing screen while it copies the file.

Publish

Add questions and share with learners

  1. In the editor, add a question where the avatar finishes each topic.
  2. Mark the correct answer on every question that counts toward the learner’s score.
  3. Add a button or a branch where the script offers a choice.
  4. Publish the video, then copy its link from the Share page.
  5. For an LMS, select Download SCORM package. This needs a Mindstamp Core plan or higher.

Limits

Check these before you publish

This API key was rejected
Mindstamp shows this when Synthesia refuses the key, and also when the key works but Synthesia returns no videos. Check the key, and make sure the account has a finished video.
A video is not in the list
Mindstamp loads only the first page of your Synthesia video list, each time you open the source. Open it again after a render finishes. For an older video, download the MP4 and upload it.
A Synthesia edit does not reach learners
Mindstamp plays the copy it made at import. Render the new version, then use Replace source video on the Mindstamp video. Interactions and the share link stay.

How do I make Synthesia videos interactive?

Synthesia has its own interactivity: buttons and branching on Pro or Enterprise, and quizzes on Enterprise, which play only on Synthesia’s share page, embeds, and SCORM export. For Mindstamp, connect Synthesia with an API key on the New video page, select a video, and add questions, hotspots, and branching. Mindstamp records each learner’s answers.

Which Synthesia plan works with Mindstamp?

The Mindstamp connection uses a Synthesia API key, and Synthesia lists API access on its Pro and Enterprise plans. On other plans, download the MP4 and upload it. Synthesia says Basic and trial accounts cannot download, so this route needs Starter or higher. Mindstamp has no plan gate on the Synthesia source, and its Basic plan allows videos up to 30 minutes.

Does Synthesia list Mindstamp as an integration?

Yes. Synthesia’s docs have a Mindstamp setup page, and its integrations directory lists Mindstamp under Interactive & Engagement Video Tools.

Does Synthesia still record views and quiz results?

Synthesia keeps the original video and the project, and its quiz analytics cover videos published through Synthesia. Mindstamp streams its own copy, so views, answers, and clicks on the interactive version go to Mindstamp reports. Mindstamp sends nothing back to Synthesia.

Mindstamp fits when you need questions on a Starter or Pro video, lead capture so learners without SSO have names, or answers sent to HubSpot, Zapier, or a webhook.

What happens when I re-render the video in Synthesia?

Mindstamp copied the file at import, so its video does not change. Open the Mindstamp video, go to More, select Replace source video, and add the new render. Interactions, the share link, and the embed code stay the same. The old transcript moves to the new file, so if the script changed, delete it and create a new one. See replace a video file.
