How do I add a Mindstamp video to TalentLMS?

Updated · 2 min read

Short answer

Publish the Mindstamp video and copy the address from its Basic iframe code. In the TalentLMS course editor, select Add, then Standard Content, then iFrame, paste the address, and publish the unit. For completion and a score in TalentLMS, upload a SCORM 1.2 package instead.

  1. In Mindstamp, publish the video from its Share page if it is not published yet.
  2. Under Embed, choose Basic iframe and select Copy embed code. Copy only the address inside src. It starts with https.
  3. In TalentLMS, open the course and select Edit course.
  4. Select Add, then Standard Content, then iFrame.
  5. Paste the address in Web address (URL). Enter a unit name, then select Publish unit from the three-dot menu.
  6. Preview the unit as a learner on a computer and on a phone.

TalentLMS needs a public https address that allows framing. Mindstamp embed addresses allow framing, so check the address first. If the unit still stays blank, open Unit options from the three-dot menu and choose Show as Pop-up. Learners then open the video in a pop-up window.

Upload a SCORM 1.2 package for a score

  • TalentLMS imports SCORM 1.2 only, with one SCO.
  • On the Mindstamp Share page, under Export, select Download SCORM package. This needs a Core plan or higher. Choose SCORM 1.2 and a Completion Checkpoint of 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, 95 or 100 percent.
  • In TalentLMS, select Add, then SCORM | xAPI | cmi5 under Learning Activities, and upload the ZIP file.
  • TalentLMS records completion, score, and time. The package loads the hosted video, so learners need internet access.

Add the video to a TalentCraft unit

In a TalentCraft unit, add an iFrame block from the bottom toolbar and paste the same address.

If your account restricts embed domains

If you set Allowed embed domains in Mindstamp, add your TalentLMS portal domain to the list. Otherwise learners see “Video not available: Code 617”. See restrict embed domains.

Know which learner watched

The embed does not receive the learner’s TalentLMS account. To see names in Mindstamp reports, add lead capture to the video so learners enter their name and email. A SCORM package passes the name and ID from the LMS instead. See viewer identity and anonymous viewers.
