How do I personalize video text with viewer information?

Updated · 2 min read

Short answer

Turn on lead capture to collect the viewer’s name or other details, then type the matching variable, such as {{name}}, into a later text, button, or question. The player fills in the value as soon as the viewer submits the form. Lead capture is on every plan; variables are on Core and higher.

  1. Open the video’s Lead Capture tab and turn it on.
  2. Under Timing & prompt, choose when the form appears and enter a Prompt.
  3. Under Fields, choose Name, Email, Phone, or Custom ID. Click + Custom field to add a text, number, date, checkbox, or dropdown field.
  4. Add a text interaction that appears after the form, for example “Thanks, {{name}}. Here is what happens next.”
  5. Click Preview, submit the form, and check that the text shows your name.

Lead Capture: choose when to ask, pick the fields, add a custom field, and mark fields as required.

The standard fields set the variables name, email, phone, and custom_id. A custom field sets a variable of its own. Choose it from the variable list in Variables & Logic so that the spelling matches.

A placeholder shows nothing until the viewer submits the form. Place the personalized text after the form appears, or use conditional logic to show it only if name Exists.

Viewers who are already known

Copy link to Viewers who are already known

When Remember viewers is on, a returning viewer is not asked again, and their saved details fill the placeholders. When the link already has a value for every selected field, for example ?name=Ana&email=ana@example.com, the form does not appear.

If Allow skipping is on, some viewers leave fields empty. “Thanks, {{name}}.” then reads “Thanks, .” Write “Thanks for watching, {{name}}” or show the sentence only when the value exists.

Every field you add makes the form longer. Ask for the details that the video or your follow-up uses, and say why you need them in the Prompt.
